Canadian Payroll Deduction Calculator

Estimate every statutory deduction on your pay — CPP, CPP2, EI, QPP, QPIP, federal and provincial tax — for any province, and compare against your stub.

Written and reviewed by Rocco Clayfield, Founder & DirectorLast reviewed

Short answer

Enter your province, pay frequency and annual salary and this calculator estimates each statutory deduction per pay period using 2026 rates: CPP or QPP (including tier 2), EI or the Quebec EI rate, QPIP, and federal and provincial income tax. Optionally enter what your stub actually shows and it will tell you whether the difference looks ordinary or worth a question to payroll. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is stored.

Most pay-stub worry starts with one question: are these deductions roughly right? This tool answers it for every province and territory, then helps you frame the polite question to payroll if something looks off.

FAQs

How accurate are these deduction estimates?

They use 2026 federal and provincial brackets, CPP/QPP and EI/QPIP ceilings, and standard basic personal amounts. Actual payroll withholding uses CRA and Revenu Québec tables and your TD1 claims, so real stubs typically differ by a few dollars — the estimate is meant to show whether your deductions are in the right ballpark, not to the cent.

Why is my actual CPP or EI different from the estimate?

The most common ordinary reasons: you reached the annual maximum (deductions stop), you started mid-year, you had a bonus or retroactive pay in the period, or you have more than one employer. If none of those fit, ask payroll to walk you through the calculation.

Does it handle Quebec?

Yes. Select Quebec and it switches to QPP, QPIP, the lower Quebec EI rate and Quebec provincial tax brackets automatically.

Does this tool store what I type?

No. All calculations run in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server or stored.
