Upload your pay stub for a plain-English check

See your gross pay, net pay, tax, CPP or QPP, EI or QPIP, benefits, vacation pay and year-to-date totals explained simply — with possible questions to ask payroll.

Short answer

Select your document type and province, upload your pay stub or payroll document, and you will get a structured breakdown of each line in plain English, a short list of items worth checking, and questions you can ask payroll. It is educational guidance, not a guarantee that an error exists.

Before you upload — a quick privacy note

  • Your pay stub can contain sensitive personal information. Remove or cover anything you do not want checked (for example your SIN or full address).
  • Only upload documents you are authorised to use.
  • You stay in control of your document. This is educational guidance — it highlights possible questions, not guaranteed errors.

Your document is read in memory only and is never stored. It is processed in the United States — see where your document is processed. If live reading is unavailable you will see a clearly-labelled example instead.

Upload FAQs

Is my document private?

Your document is read in memory to produce your explanation and is not written to disk, not logged and not kept afterwards. The retention position is set out in full in the privacy policy. Cover or remove anything you do not want read — your social insurance number in particular — before you upload. Do not upload a document you are not authorised to use.

Can I upload a T4 or a Quebec RL-1?

Yes. The checker is designed to read pay stubs, T4 and T4A slips, ROE documents, TD1 forms, RL-1 slips (Quebec), final pay statements and bonus or commission statements. Select the document type so the explanation is more relevant.

Will it tell me if my employer made a mistake?

It highlights lines that may be worth checking and suggests questions to ask payroll. It does not guarantee that an error exists. If something still looks wrong after payroll explains it, your provincial or territorial employment standards office, CRA or Revenu Québec may be able to help.

Is this CRA or Revenu Québec advice?

No. PayStub IQ Canada is not affiliated with the CRA or Revenu Québec and does not provide tax, legal, accounting or payroll advice. It explains the information visible in your document so you know what to ask.

It does not provide legal, tax, accounting, payroll, CRA, Revenu Québec, or employment standards advice.
